'Free' Dial-Up Internet Access
Let's say you have temporarily lost your broadband internet access - what do you do? The ISP say they will look into the problem and put you back 'online' as soon as they can. How long will that take? Some people can't be without the internet while the problem is sorted out!
Another use is when you are away from home and there is no broadband available to you - but you do have access to a modem (usually built into laptops) and a telephone line.
Here's a short term solution for you - and it's (almost) free! All you pay is the cost of local call to a dedicated 0845 number - this will vary according to your telephone line provider, unless you are with BT, in which case the average cost is 4p per minute.
So, let's assume that you have Windows XP as your operating system, as a lot of you still do. For Windows Vista & 7 users, the process is broadly similar, just some of the words may be slightly different!
