Data Loss & Recovery

It happens to just about everyone who owns a computer, or a camera. The data or photographs you have been looking after for ages have suddenly gone - disappeared from the computer completely because someone 'accidentally' deleted them. Lost forever? Maybe not. Here's a rough guide on what to do next.

1. The first thing to do is switch off the computer - this is prevent the accidentally deleted files from being 'over-written' by new data, and makes recovery very difficult, sometimes impossible.

2. Contact us at the earliest opportunity - the shorter the time between deletion and recovery, the better chance we have of recovering the files.

3. We will collect your hard drive from the computer (or the computer itself), and start the data recovery process immediately. This can take from a few hours to a few days (rarely), so please be patient.

4. Please be clear about what exactly you want us to recover. If it is just photographs, then we can narrow down the search to just .jpg and .jpeg images. The rest we can ignore, again cutting down the search time.

  • We have very specialised software installed on a special computer that is used just for data recovery, nothing else.
  • Having said that, there is no guarantee that data can be recovered, no matter how hard we try and what software we use, but be assured we wil do our best!
  • Data recovery is not just confined to computer hard drives - we can attempt to recover lost data from memory sticks, camera SD or XD cards and so on. Just ask and we will give the best advice on the way to proceed.
  • Charges - there is no charge if we are unable to recover your data.
